Wordless Wednesday
April 1st, 2009 |For Wordless Wednesday this week, a picture of my daughter and her stunning fashion sense. Post your own caption. Vote for your favorite caption with a “thumbs-up.” The caption with the most votes at noon Friday wins a piece of my past (a Plaid CD made in the late 90′s).

And the winner is…
March 20th, 2009 |And the winner of this weeks Wordless Wednesday caption contest, hailing from the great state of Texas, is Toby Baxley with, “Dude! Lovin’ the tan! You been farming long?” Toby and his wife and kids (don’t want to give out too much info without Toby’s permission or I would name them) win the privilege of getting a piece of Andrew Adams history:
His choice of a Plaid Understanding God 1998 Rustproof release (where it all started) or the 2000 Downpour The Real Me release (where it all crashed and burned). I’m not trying to knock the guys who stayed in the band for the Downpour days – I think they would agree with me. And, of course, he gets a wonderful Plaid sticker. He mostly wins these because I still have a box full of CD’s from these bands. I may or may not be credited on the Downpour release (I honestly don’t remember) because I was no longer in the band when the album actually released – but I did play some of the bass (there’s lots of programming) and did sing BGV’s (now that I think about it, I’m sure I got credited in some form or fashion). Toby, just send your physical address to andrew@andrewadamsonline.com and I’ll have your copy on the way. I’m sure you will be astounded!
I just found reviews of the Plaid record at Amazon.com. Really funny stuff. They are all 5 stars and 1 star with nothing in between. The 1 star reviews were all people looking for the UK electronica band, and the 5 star reviews were all people who appear to have seen us live.
Anyway, if enough people bug me I may put up a link to a video from a 1999 show at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. It’s hilarious, but it may make booking future dates difficult for me. The comedy alone may be worth it, though.
Next week, be sure to check back for another picture from the beach in Destin on Wordless Wednesday. Next week’s picture will again have the kitty cat boogie board, so you know you have to check it out. After that, maybe I can find some classic Plaid pictures. That’s all the nostalgia for now. Be sure to congratulate Toby, as I’m sure you are ALL jealous of his prize!
Photos from Florida/Wordless Wednesday winner
March 13th, 2009 |First of all, I’d like to thank Alex Skidmore for taking so many photos of our trip. These are photos from Crosspointe Church in Orlando, FL and Trinity Baptist Church in Ocala, FL.
- Devin… being Devin
- Stage View from Andy’s mic
- Eric in action
- Woh, oh, oh!
- Alex Skidmore
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for:
By vote of Andy Walker (the owner of the pedal board in the picture), the winner of the Wordless Wednesday caption contest is Fred McKinnon with “Next at the YMCA? ‘Stomp.’”
If you look at the comments section on posts now, you’ll notice that you can give a “thumbs up” to comments. Next week the winner will be determined by getting the most “thumbs up” votes.
This photo came from Sunday morning at Crosspointe Church, which meets in a YMCA. For those of you who are tech-heads, here are the components of Andy’s pedal board:
- Boss TU-2
- 2 Line 6 DL4′s (he uses one for a prerecorded reverse delay on the Wonderful Cross, the other is used for more typical delays)
- Boss DD7 with FS-5U Foot Switch (for tap tempo)
- MXR Phase 90 (I’ll need Andy to confirm that, it may be the Dyna-Comp)
- RAT
- Fulltone Full-Drive 2 Mosfet
- Maxon OD-808
Be sure to check back next Wednesday for a photo from the beach!
Wordless Wednesday
March 11th, 2009 |And the winner is…
March 6th, 2009 |First of all, let me explain a little about the picture. About a year ago (maybe a little less than that) we had a message series at church entitled “A View From the Pew” that examined certain things that the church has traditionally done and whether they were biblically based or just something we did because of tradition. We would then discuss why our church did or did not do whatever the particular subject for that morning was. The pew in this photo was on stage for the whole series. Most Sundays we would have a skit with people sitting on the pew, going through the different elements of a traditional church service. Before we started the series we took quite a few pictures of the pew that we intended to use during the series, but for whatever reason we did not. That photoshoot is where this photo came from (Yes, according to the Chicago Manual of Style you can now end a sentence with a preposition).
Now for the honorable mentions, in no particular order:
- Most likely to have a typo while commenting about a typo: The Dude (proofread is one word, buddy!). He and I have an ongoing grammar-correction war that would make even the Grammar Nazi proud.
- Most likely to make me want to watch a classic movie: Lisa
- Most likely to point out some of the pitfalls of the present-day church: Chris Dillingham
- Best biblical reference: Steven Chappell
And, finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for:
The winner, by the official vote of my wife, is Fat Andy with “Umm..excuse me. I hate to be rude, but this is our pew. We always sit here.”
All the comments were great! If you didn’t get to see them all, be sure to check them out on the Wordless Wednesday post to see what you missed. Be sure to check back next week. I’m hitting the road tomorrow with 5 other guys. I’m sure that some great photo opportunities will arise and next week’s Wordless Wednesday post will be quite funny.
Wordless Wednesday
March 4th, 2009 |Well, for the first “Wordless Wednesday” I guess I need to explain how it works. Every Wednesday I’ll post a picture that is in desperate need of a caption. Sometimes there will be prizes for the best caption. The winner will be announced at 12:00 Friday! This week, the winner (because I don’t have product to give away… yet) gets a hug from me the next time I see you. I know, I know. It’s a great prize and I don’t know how I’ll be able to do any better than this week’s prize, but I’ll try. So anyway, here’s the picture. Post your caption in the comments section and win a prize! It’s just that simple folks!
